Bad Guys: Other Gangs of New York
You’ve heard about the really bad gangs of New York City—the Five Italian Families: Bonanno, Colombo, Genovese, Luchese, DeCavalcante—and the Russian gangs, called Bratki; also the Jewish gangsters who are mostly no longer with us, may they rest in peace. Juvenile gangs, too, are mostly gone, according to the NYPD Gang Division, which in these hard economic times, may be the death of the Gang Division.
So, who’s left? Mickey Big Teeth’s Somewhat Jewish Gang and Cataldo’s Italian-Plus Gang. Former playground rivals, they now battle over the same West Side Manhattan turf. They are “bad guys,” though not really, real bad guys. You wouldn’t call them loveable screw-ups. Some of them don’t screw up at all. Some are just damned with bad luck. Some are uniquely effective in their job, which includes murder.
Bad Guys tells the linked stories of Mickey Big Teeth’s and Cataldo’s guys and some gals as they share mayhem and humor.
